Script School is an entertainment-based educational company. Script School is based in Austin, Texas. We run live online screenwriting, acting and filmmaking courses for adults.
How much does an online screenwriting class cost?
Screenwriting 101, Horror Screenplay Writing, TV Pilot Lab and The Perfect Pitch & Package are $199 each. The Acting Class is $299 for four weeks or $89 for a single class. The Casting Director Workshop is $149. Every course price is listed on the Courses page, and early-bird pricing takes 10% off when you enroll 30 or more days before a course starts.
Are the courses good for beginners?
Yes. Screenwriting 101 is built for first-time writers and covers structure, character, scene and industry format from the ground up. Our students include teachers, novelists, former actors, retirees, engineers and bartenders.
How big are the classes?
Every class is capped at eight students, so each writer gets real feedback on their own pages every week.
Who teaches the courses?
Working producers, filmmakers, actors and screenwriters who know the business.
I am unsure I have chosen the right mentor for my project. What can I do?
If you are unsure you have chosen the most adequate mentor for your project, we will happily set you up with an alternative option.
Taking part
Are the classes live or pre-recorded?
All classes are live on Google Meet at a set weekly time. Times are listed in Pacific or Central time on each course.
What tools do I need to book a session?
If you are undertaking our online script-writing sessions, we highly recommend you purchase the writing software Final Draft. If you are participating in an online course, you must have access to a webcam, a working microphone and Google Meet. We also recommend a strong internet signal.
Can I join from outside the US?
Yes. Students from more than 15 countries have taken courses with us. Pick your time zone when you enroll and we will confirm class times in your local time.

How do I pay for my course?
You can pay securely on this website by Visa, Mastercard, Amex or PayPal.
I can’t afford an up-front fee. Are there payment plans?
Yes. You can pay a 25% deposit at checkout, with the balance charged on the first day of class. For other ways to spread payments, contact us.
Are there discounts?
Early bird: 10% off when you enroll 30 or more days ahead. Writing partners: $25 off for each extra student you enroll with. Referral codes take $25 off tuition.
