Can Anyone Write a Screenplay?

Yes, anyone can write a screenplay. You do not need a film degree, connections or expensive software. You need a story idea, an understanding of basic format and structure, and the discipline to finish and rewrite. Many working screenwriters started in completely different careers.

What do you need to begin?

An idea, screenwriting software and a few produced scripts to read. Start with a short script if a feature feels too big.

Who writes screenplays?

People from every background: teachers, engineers, actors, novelists, retirees. Life experience often gives writers their best material.

How do you get better?

Write regularly, share pages with other writers, and rewrite based on their notes.
